Punjab Govt to Set Up Aab Pak Authority for Clean Drinking Water

Access to clean and safe drinking water has been a major challenge Pakistan is faced with today. Nearly half of the country’s population is without clean and safe drinking water facility and compelled to consume contaminated water, which causes water-borne diseases. The United Nations General Assembly had declared access to clean and safe drinking water as fundamental human rights on July 28, 2010 through a resolution. The word body calls upon States and international organisations to provide financial resources, help capacity-building and technology transfer to help countries, in particular developing countries, to provide safe, clean, accessible and affordable drinking water and sanitation for all.
